From what I can see in the attached link Mr. Kremer has shown some conceptual pretty pictures of something pointing skyward. Pretty pictures are pretty but let's not call this a BIM, let alone a BIMStorm. It is fair to say Wanda Group proposed super tall Chicago skyscraper cries out for a community focused event, one surmises from the article of Aaron Dunlap, and following comments. ( Here's How The New Wanda Supertall Would Change Our Skyline  )

Something of substance and thoughtful biophila, it is just where an honest BIMStorm begins.

Building: not a chance. it's a conceptual sketch with some GE (Google Earth) virtual back-drops;
Information: Alright, it gives me a visual yardstick, but no information, if so I can not find it.
Model: Odd 3D stacked rhomboids, not really a model, of any significance. An electronic version of Lincoln Logs, or Froebel Blocks, or plastic Legos, without the tactile touches, maybe..

BIMStorm: Where is the dust, Where is the dialog, Where are the dimensions, Where are the detes ? I can not say this is a "Storm". First it's not a BIM per se, for all the reasons above and more. And a BIMStorm, it is not, however, it can, if it takes on power, become a BIMStorm.

Let us give credit to Mr. Kremer for creating a sparkling, vision, flashing out of the urban environ, a flashlight of the future. Why not let this spark become a STORM, not of one image, or one perspective, or one solution, yet as a true BIMStorm, that of many voices, many many realities colliding, and the proper, sustaining solution for a millennia !

We bequeath the title of "Master View Maker" upon Mr. Ryan Kremer, acknowledging his zoetic contribution to the initiation of the time to come. Let us allow his initiated work to provide a path from a professional person, of the highest order, but can we Mr. Bordenaro hold off calling this collaged cityscape a BIMStorm ? Just a Food for Thot.

I was asked a series of questions for survey recently and as this is a subject matter that dominates my 24/6 life, so why not take the opportunity to provide a blog as well ?

What caused you to start using BIM ?

Have used the concept of BIM, Building Information Modeling, since 1985, when a Zoning Board needed information about a proposed building affect on adjacent lots. The answers were provided with the tasks I performed to demonstrate through electronic modeling, i.e. how the sun was to cast its shadows from that proposed building onto two neighboring built lots.  Have been a proponent of BIM always.

What factors can you share that distinguish your firm and the way you do things from others ?

Because many hearts recognize the mind, body and instinct seeks solace, inspiration, protection and comfort from, and because of, the structural shelters that house us, be they used for waking or sleeping activities, there is a design imperative that our imaginations recognize the solutions, and we build the results.

Have you found that clients come to expect more when you utilize BIM ?

Yes, even clients that rarely venture into the built world, expect their documentation to reflect modeled visualizations, accurate information, leading to perfected buildings, resilient and are near net zero energy consumption.

What do you think are the industry obstacles that do not allow the use of BIM? 

Lack of interoperability by software vendors, poor underlying clunky (software) programs by the same vendors, and lack of the big picture by some software developers.

This Spring

...  I've been wondering, what happened to the animals when it rains ?

Such a silly question. It’s a question I have had a long, long time. I thought perhaps I would google for the answer. I have not yet done so. But the answer appeared despite my life long procrastination. 

Today I returned from my aerobic workout. I was getting ready to change shoes, to go out to feed the chickens, and give them their water. The chickens, of course, are in a coup, the hen house, and protected from the elements,  well at least to twenty below zero Fahrenheit, which we reached recently.  I glanced out the window, looking to the east, scanning the landscape of our big side yard, seeing the hand planted pine trees. I also saw gray, and overly gray skies, as a heavy downpour of rain falls, preceding the ice and snow forecast for later today.  Then behold my eyes, at the top of the grape vine arbor sets the Dove Family.

Well at least two of the family, seems like an early return by the birds, as winter is not over, but being here, are the Doves, in the spring, summer, to sometime into the late fall. Now to my joy and the uplifting of my underworked heart, there they are perched, sitting placidly in the rain, as it comes down very heavily. One dove occasionally lifts a wing or picks at its feathers, while the other just spends time bird meditating. As the raincoats of the feathers seemingly soaked, the water drips off these two, outside, wild, family of birds, in a non-threatening setting. Yes, I see other birds flying around soaring where their instincts take them. But the Dove Family appears to be here for the duration, they are home in the comfort of the author's planted trees and shrubs. I know the Dove Family calls this land and air, home.

These creatures are quite beautiful and so camouflaged into the background of dormant mustard yellowed grasses, their sided coverings of a two-tone beige and gray brown, with black markings. I glaze, so amazed that they can sit and do whatever it is they do. For you perhaps, I thought, I can capture this word expression here as you read, on digital film with a photographic liking of the two perched. 

I feel like somehow I should be getting out a sign to say ‘welcome back’ for the One Dove and Dove Two. How can I say, we missed you ? You're great sign that spring is near. Here you are to be starting your full Family again, and we will listen for your tweet, not on Twitter, but in the open amazing atmosphere of Mother Earth. She shares with us so much and we're just so pleased that we can share common space with you at this time. 

I whisper through the glass to the Dove Family, it is our dire fear, by some of us cognisantly inclined, that the human species is  destroying the basic earth elements, that nourish and sustain your home and ours. It is not our wish that “they” by their detestable ways, mindless greedy gains, pay no heed to your kingdom, or to the flora and fauna, or even us.   

Too many people in the modern society appear not to experience what I have just experienced. Thus, it is necessary to share, so all of us can begin to care. To look at one singular square-foot of the planet and see what it means to have a balance with earth is what the Dove family teaches. Creativity coming from our mind needs to be able to save us, from us they whisper back. Mom Earth of course will continue, as we may not have the means and mechanism to stay in balance with Her.  So by our own designs and choices and mad insane men, (mostly men) her fury will have no option but to drive many species to the sixth extinction ahead of it’s due time. 

I am worried. I do promote each second of the day to dwell on keeping this creation alive with human sensibilities, for the human species, on her surfaces, and in her waters breathing, her air communicating, and her waves too, traveling to and fro. 

Longing for getting out my fossil fueled piece of CO₂ guilt mobile, I saw other signs of spring in this morning rain. At least three separate tulip bunches had pushed through the west walled stone space. I am always so excited by that recaptured growth cycle, so elementary colorful and expressive, annually. Yes happy, although we realize the snow is on its way today.

And as long as I've been writing this story the birds remain situated, quiet, content, alert, beautiful, meaningful, inspirational, saturated with water. Acid free water we can not guarantee for them now, but soon say, yes it is so. 

How can I not like my existence ?  How can I not take the time to observe ? How can I not take even more time to learn ? And as I have learned can I not share with this fact,  the doves do live in the air ?

The question remains, what do the other animals do when it rains ? This will require additional investigation. Something I should've observed long ago. So as not to demean this author, suffice to say one has learned by living life, one is never too late to learn, then or now this Spring.

In the course of time truth always unfolds itself. In the case of fracking Ohio, time will elucidate those in favor of mining DEAD fossil fuels assisted in the ecocide of Earth.



The current administration and legislators has a sad history of transparency and good governance characteristics regarding the natural resources of the State of Ohio.



Time has a karmic quality, one surmises being on the wrong side of time results in negative karma.



"a man of good acts will become good, a man of bad acts, bad;

he becomes pure by pure deeds, bad by bad deeds;", Brihadaranyaka Upanishad.



Therefore we urge you to follow through with the full investigation, including public hearings, that Representatives Antonio and Hagan called for on the Administration and ODNR's plan to promote fracking in state parks.



There is solid evidence that our leaders were proposing a plan to collude with the industry that it is supposed to regulate, and it is the duty of this General Assembly to conduct a thorough investigation.



The toxic results of using hydraulic fracturing to extract natural gas have led to the contamination of drinking water, earthquakes in three counties that are or could be associated with fracking waste disposal, and dangerous explosions, among other issues -- right here in Ohio.



Our regulators and Administration are tasked with protecting our residents from the impacts of fracking -- not to working to promote it.



Time ... is not on Ohioans, nor Earth's side with fracking its lands.

State of the Climate: now, before & into the future

There's only one state that really matters on earth today,

... it’s called the State of the Climate. 

Now

Nationally temperatures are colder and hotter regionally, and precipitation greater historically speaking or nonexistent as in the case of droughts in the US. Wildland fires persist with unmatched veracity. Hurricanes in February across the pond in Great Britain this past week.  Snow & Ice blanketing huge swaths of states, and tornadic activity as never witnessed. This is some of the regional, national and international State of the Climate we experience daily.

One year ago this weekend the two of us traveled to Washington DC for a climate rally primarily called to protest the development of the Keystone XL Pipeline crossing the plain states on its way to Cushing, Oklahoma.  All walks of life were present, unified, and adamant for rejection of corporate and governmental leaders not leading with any sense of responsibility,  to this date at this time, when it comes to the State of the Climate.

Although the climate leaders might be likened to a faint callings of a John the Baptist shouting in the desert, ‘ repent from your fossil fuel ways or death be on your back ‘ their voices are small and an exisiting Climate change caucus small too, relative to the 7 billion plus people affected by a changing climate. That year has sped along with businesses as usual, in the dead fossil fuel industry, putting CO² and CH⁴ and more, into the upper atmosphere to give a toxic blend of greenhouse gases (GHG) enveloping our precious elements, that allow us Life on land, trying to find drinking water, and breathable air.

Asking local, state and national legislators to be accountable for their votes, in predominantly gerrymandered districts, is a futile exercise, because their minds are connected to wallets & purses, having no connectivity for current, or, future environmental conditions on Earth. Energy policy is dictated by a few corporatists around the globe, and has caused all to suffer, but the suffering that has been experienced, is none compared to what is in store for the us as climate changes the Earth, and all earthlings inhabiting this delicate celestial body orbiting the Sun.

Our prospective climatic episodes demand, for world of collective citizens, with megaphone voices, to create a sane State of the Climate now.

Before

2009 State of the Union February 24 - President Obama:

"I know that there are those who disagree with the overwhelming scientific evidence on climate change. But -- but here's the thing. Even if you doubt the evidence, providing incentives for energy efficiency and clean energy are the right thing to do for our future, ..."   "We have gone from a bystander to a leader in the fight against climate change."

2010 State of the Union January 28 - President Obama: 

"…. I know that there are those who disagree with the overwhelming scientific evidence on climate change …"

2011 State of the Union - President Obama: Jan. 25, 2011

No mention of climate change in this State of the Union

2012 - State of the Union January 24 - President Obama:

"We can also spur energy innovation with new incentives. The differences in this chamber may be too deep right now to pass a comprehensive plan to fight climate change. But there's no reason why Congress shouldn't at least set a clean energy standard that creates a market for innovation."

2013 State of the Union February 12 - President Obama:

"But for the sake of our children and our future, we must do more to combat climate change. "

"Now, the good news is we can make meaningful progress on this issue while driving strong economic growth.  I urge this Congress to get together, pursue a bipartisan, market-based solution to climate change, …."

"I will direct my Cabinet to come up with executive actions we can take, now and in the future, to reduce pollution, prepare our communities for the consequences of climate change, and speed the transition to more sustainable sources of energy."

2014 - State of the Union January 28 - President Obama:

"One of the reasons why is natural gas – if extracted safely, it’s the bridge fuel that can power our economy with less of the carbon pollution that causes Climate change. "

"... I’ll cut red tape to help states get those factories built, and this Congress can help by putting people to work building fueling stations that shift more cars and trucks from foreign oil to American natural gas. "

"The shift to a cleaner energy economy won’t happen overnight, and it will require tough choices along the way. But the debate is settled. Climate change is a fact. And when our children’s children look us in the eye and ask if we did all we could to leave them a safer, more stable world, with new sources of energy, I want us to be able to say yes, we did."

& into the future

President Obama is a lawyer,  he is not a scientist.  Lawyers dissect issues one box at a time,  rarely grasp the big picture in its entirety,  just ask any National Supreme Court Justice.  Mr Obama's all of the above plan is filled with ill advised strategies and obvious negligent outcomes with bridging fuels and technologies. 

The now, the before, continue to demonstrate and have shown historically, the ruling controlling class does not respect the total planetary environment. Had they, we would not be in this humanly designed climate chaos fact we now ALL reside. 

Bring out of your inner depth, today, your deepest voice, your loudest call, your boldest words and your forward thinking non-violent acts, to rid the planet Earth of scourge of dark money and dead energy to save Earthlings. Earthlings, that is human life, animal life, plant life, and the unseen elements that allow each species to live.

MoMA's bad karma ?

No matter what one's perspective the decision to demolish a structure, less than two decades built, is an incorrect choice. Misguided by whatever forces are at work, in the people that unwisely have incurred their personal wrath in a neighborhood on a New York City block, in an environment of city wide residents with high poverty rates, on an earth that has finite resources for a 7 billion plus population.

MoMA museum stakeholders, with massive amounts of financial resource to accomplish their stated goals, should at least in reparation for their bad act, dismantle the current Folk Art Museum, beam by beam, bolt by bolt, screw by screw, then re-erect the structure in a community, nearby, that can appreciate the Earth's gift of minds and materials, she nurtures every day. To do any less is to keep karma bad, and perhaps extending within the walls of MoMA, servicing a keen culture of visitors, generally carrying super good karmic characteristics.

Any less of a gesture mostly likely will result in less visitors not wanting to have the bad stuff dumping on their good shoulders, upon entering the portals of new & old MoMA.

#Ban #Fracking by being a light to the nations, so that deliverance from harm, ruin & loss may reach to the ends of the earth, preventing the corporatist DEAD (fossil) fuel industry from annihilating earthlings.

Do you know what today’s CO² (carbon dioxide) level in the atmosphere is today?  

Yes, correct, it is 397 ppm (parts per million). The safe level, agreed upon globally, is 350 ppm. Man's activities influence the climate of today & tomorrow. The use of dead (fossil) fuels worsens the dire consequences now thwarted upon us, with energy business as usual. The hydraulic fracturing (fracking) business has compounded the negative consequence of continued mining of coal, oil and gas. 

Each day articles flood social media regarding the harmful affects to us & Earth about frack-water usage, unprotected groundwater, mismanagement of toxic wastewater, fouled air emissions, catastrophic impacts to roadways and mega-mall size frack sites, and man-made caused seismic activity. Legislators & regulators allegiances are not to the common good via sound environmental practices, but with the obvious, self serving dis-information campaigns of  an industry creating unnecessary, unwanted climatic conditions of change.

One wishes one could sound a note of optimism, yet with the invisible CH⁴, (methane) greenhouse gas, causing 4 times, to a 100 times the misery of CO² places on earth, such words can not be expressed. A political, environmental awakening of slumbered Ohioans, benefiting all earthlings, will bring hope through imperative transformative acts.
